Gnome

Introduction
You can play NetHack or SLASH'EM as a Gnome G[1]. Gnomes have infravision and can use uncursed touchstones as blessed, like an Archaeologist. As a gnome, you will also find the gnomish inhabitants of the Gnomish Mines to be generally peaceful.
Gnomes are always Neutral. They can be Archaeologists, Cavemen, Healers, Rangers or Wizards. In SLASH'EM only, gnomes can additionally be Flame Mages, Ice Mages, or Undead Slayers.
GNOME is a desktop environment and development platform on Linux or Unix systems. There is a graphical version of NetHack that runs under GNOME.
List of gnome monsters
In the vanilla 3.4.3 dungeon, you can encounter:
Gnome mummy is M, gnome zombie is Z, and the rest of the above are all G. A "gnome corpse" is dropped by the undead gnomes and is also found in graves left by player gnomes in bones.
Gnomish items
Gnomes start with a crossbow instead of bow, and crossbow bolts instead of arrows. These are listed below. The weapon damage figures are copied from weap-343.txt.
