Paralysis is a magically-induced inability to move. Depending on the length and cause, paralysis can be quite dangerous, as monsters may get many free turns.

Causes

  • Attacking a floating eye. If you can see it and your hit does not kill it, there is a 2/3 chance that you will be paralyzed for a large number of turns (usually d70).[1]
  • Attacking or being attacked by a gelatinous cube. This paralysis does not last as long.
  • Being attacked by a shade. This attack is affected by magic cancellation, so players with MC3 will usually not encounter this.
