Kernigh writes: In the Dudley's dungeon of 26 September 2005, the symbol 9 represented "newts, salamanders and axolotls". In my personal nethackrc at http://alt.org/nethack/rcfiles/Kernigh.nethackrc I use 8 for boulders. I have observed games where 7 represented the water monsters, in place of the ; semicolon.
I think that NetHack does use 0 for iron balls. I will have to check that. --Kernigh 03:44, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
