Helping Hand is an artifact that appears in dNetHack and notdNetHack. It is lawful, and its base item is a grappling hook.
Description
While carried, Helping Hand blocks 19⁄20 of item-cursing effects such as the curse items monster spell, and can be used to engrave at the same quality as an athame. While wielded, it confers automatic searching, stealth, warning, and gives an enchantment-based bonus to all searches - it additionally fully blocks item-cursing effects. Invoking Helping Hand untraps the character's current square or an adjacent square.
