An ancient ring is a type of ring that appears in EvilHack. It is made of gemstone.
The ancient ring is the base item for The Ring of P'hul, the Barbarian quest artifact.
Generation
Ancient rings are not randomly generated normally, though they can be wished for or found in bones. If a Barbarian's quest artifact is included in a bones level that they enter, it will always revert to its base item.
Description
A hero that puts on an ancient ring will gain free action, as with a ring of free action.
Strategy
The ancient ring is a useful base item for drow, elven and vampiric heroes that they can opt to wish for if the ring of free action is made of a harmful material (i.e. iron for either type of elf or silver for vampires) in their current game.
