A helm of drain resistance is a type of helm that appears in dNetHack, notdNetHack and notnotdNetHack. It is a magical helm that has a randomized appearance when unidentified, and when generated as a band it appears as a diadem of drain resistance. As a helm it has a base material of iron, while as a band it has a base material of gold.
Generation
Helms of drain resistance make up 1⁄200 (0.5%) of all armor randomly generated on the ground, in general shops or as death drops. Used armor dealerships and antique weapon outlets can also stock helms of drain resistance.
Description
While worn, the helm of drain resistance naturally grants drain resistance, 1 base AC and 1 DR in addition to any other qualities of its randomized appearance. Wearing or taking off a helm of drain resistance takes 1 action.
In band form, the diadem of drain resistance grants half as much AC and DR after adjustments for erosion and material, but adds a bonus equal to its enchantment to the hero's charisma.
