A gargantuan spider, s, is a type of monster that appears in EvilHack. The gargantuan spider is a huge, oviparous and carnivorous arachnid that is strong and capable of spinning webs, and drow heroes are capable of taming them with thrown food and applying saddles and barding to them.

A gargantuan spider has a poisonous bite and a touch attack that spreads webbing, and possesses poison resistance.

A gargantuan spider corpse is poisonous to eat, and eating a gargantuan spider corpse or tin grants ⁴⁄₂₅ (+16%) additional poison resistance.

Generation

Randomly generated gargantuan spiders are always created hostile. Giant spiders can grow up into gargantuan spiders.

Webs created at level generation may have a gargantuan spider placed atop them.

They also appear among the random s that are part of the second quest monster class for Rangers and make up ⁶⁄₁₇₅ of the monsters randomly generated on the Ranger quest.

If Lolth is the inhabitant of the second-tier demon lord lair in Gehennom, two of the possible maps will generate a gargantuan spider next to her at level creation.

Gargantuan spiders generated at level creation are given a random item to hide under, despite being incapable of hiding.
