Disrupter is an artifact weapon that appears in SLASH'EM, SlashTHEM and Hack'EM. It is neutral for wishing purposes, and its base item is a mace.
Generation
In SLASH'EM and SlashTHEM, Disrupter is the first sacrifice gift for Priests. In SLASH'EM, it can also be generated randomly: any mace created at level generation time has a 1⁄20 chance of being made into Disrupter, since the only other artifact mace (The Sceptre of Might) cannot be randomly generated. As maces are one of the most common weapons, this makes it a frequent sight, particularly in weapon shops.
Description
Disrupter has +5 to-hit and deals +30 damage versus undead. Against undead, this damage bonus exceeds any other weapon, even the famed Bat from Hell.
Strategy
Disrupter is in a similar niche to that of Sunsword: the damage bonus covers a somewhat limited range of monsters that still encapsulates several monster classes and includes many high-level threats. Most liches vampires, and the various undead spellcasters such as the ghoul mage, vampire mage and ghoul queen can bring ruin to unprepared players, providing plentiful uses cases for any character not restricted in the mace skill.
Though Disrupter does not offer additional effects compared to the light-emitting Sunsword, the flat damage is more than enough to secure kills against hostile undead; enchant weapon scrolls can further improve its hit rate and ensure damage against monsters with enchantment resistance.
