The Great High Shaman of Kurtulmak, k, is the quest nemesis for the Gnomish Ranger quest in dNetHack, notdNetHack and notnotdNetHack. He is a kobold that guards the Bell of Opening and the quest artifact, The Rogue Gear-spirits.
The Great High Shaman of Kurtulmak shares the same traits as other kobolds (e.g. the ability to track via scent), and will also pick up weapons and magical items that he comes across—he is covetous and capable of warping, and desires the hero's quest artifact. Despite his title and abilities, the Great High Shaman of Kurtulmak is essentially a somewhat-stronger kobold shaman.
The Great High Shaman of Kurtulmak has a normal weapon attack along with another weapon attack that can steal the quest artifact if the hero obtains it, and will cast one arcane monster spell during each of his turns. He has basic skill in martial combat, and possesses poison resistance and stoning resistance.
The Great High Shaman of Kurtulmak's corpse and blood are poisonous to consume.
