Illurien of the Myriad Glimpses is always generated hostile.

Illurien is generated on a random square within the shrouded dispensary at level creation.

The first time she is generated, Illurien is always created with one of three artifact spellbooks: The Necronomicon, The Book of Infinite Spells or The Book of Lost Names.

Illurien never leaves a corpse upon death.

Illurien of the Myriad Glimpses is amphibious, unbreathing, capable of flight, can see invisible, has regeneration, can teleport, has teleport control, and will pick up and collect items with a bias towards magical ones. Illurien has full monster MR and cannot be tamed.

Illurien has a unique engulfing attack, a claw attack that holds you in place similar to that of mimics, and will attempt to cast one mage monster spell per round of combat. Her engulfing attack will envelop you only if either you or Illurien are stuck to the other - it inflicts amnesia and rusts worn armor, and deals double damage against targets with blood.

After Illurien dies for the first time, she will cause you trouble for the rest of the game. Every 250–1250 turns, Illurien will perform one of the following actions:

  • She will cast aggravate on you. (14 chance)
  • She will resurrect on an adjacent square to you, or levelport to you if she is still alive. (14 chance)
  • Nothing happens. (12 chance)

Once you reach the Astral Plane, Illurien will cease her harassment.

A mist of blood is torn from your skin and swept into the cloud!
You took double damage from Illurien's engulfing attack.
