A stake is a type of weapon that appears in dNetHack, notdNetHack and notnotdNetHack. It is a small-sized one-handed piercing weapon that has the base material of wood. At Skilled and Expert, it gains the Quick, Second, Focus Fire and Stop Thrust expert traits.
The Stake of Withering is an artifact stake.
Generation
Stakes make up 1⁄250 of all randomly generated weapons.
Stakes may be generated in dilapidated armories at varying states of erosion.
Deminymphs that are given the Undead Hunter kit have a 1⁄3 chance of being generated with a stake that has an enchantment ranging from +0 to +3.
Treesingers are able to make a copy of a stake that is shown to them.
Description
Stakes deal +1d6 damage to all vampire monsters, and have an additional 1⁄20 chance of delivering a vorpal pierce attack, dealing ×20 base damage + 8d20. Any body armor worn by a monster is destroyed in the process. Stakes can be multishot.
