A crystal ooze, b, is a type of monster that appears in dNetHack, notdNetHack and notnotdNetHack. The crystal ooze is a type of acidic blob monster that is not only capable of swimming, but is also naturally invisible while moving over moats and pools of water.

A crystal ooze has a paralyzing touch attack, a second touch attack that can drown targets, and a passive attack that induces corrosion. Crystal oozes possess fire resistance, cold resistance, sleep resistance, poison resistance, acid resistance, and stoning resistance.

A crystal ooze corpse is acidic to eat, but cures stoning when bitten into.

Generation

Crystal oozes are not randomly generated, and normally-created crystal oozes are always created hostile.

A single crystal ooze is generated within the first catacombs level of the Mithardir Quest, near the northern edge of the pool surrounding the up stair.

Strategy

Though the crystal ooze is an incredibly rare sight, it is not difficult to kill.

Encyclopedia entry

What's worse, the evil residue has spawned a creature.
A gigantic crystal ooze lives in the pool and attacks
anything that enters the chamber - not out of hunger,
but spite. It particularly enjoys attacking sods as
soon as they emerge from the bottom of the shaft,
trying to grab them and drag them down into the foul,
green soup.
