An amulet versus poison is a type of amulet that appears in NetHack.

Generation

Amulets versus poison are the second-most common, and make up 33200 (16.5%) of all randomly-generated amulets.

General stores and jewelers can sell amulets versus poison.

Description

While worn, the amulet versus poison grants extrinsic poison resistance. Monsters will not use this amulet.

Strategy

The amulet versus poison is most worthwhile when discovered early on by heroes that do not gain or start with early poison resistance, and it allows them to safely eat corpses of poisonous monsters such as killer bees to gain the intrinsic. Once the intrinsic is obtained, the amulet can be removed and left behind, though it is worth stashing as a backup in the event that poison resistance is lost to intrinsic theft from a gremlin.

Identification

The amulet versus poison is difficult to informally identify without some risk to the hero.

History

The amulet versus poison first appears with most amulets in NetHack 3.0.0.

Variants

SLASH'EM

In SLASH'EM, an amulet versus poison is always generated in The Spider Caves at level creation.
