Gauntlets are a type of gloves that appear in dNetHack and notdNetHack. They have a base material of iron.

Generation

Samurai and half-dragon Anachrononauts start each game with a +0 pair of gauntlets.

Several monsters can generate with gauntlets:

• Legion devil sergeants and legion devil captains always generate with gauntlets.
• Doom knights always generate with gray-colored gauntlets.
• Hedrow blademasters always generate with gauntlets made of shadowsteel.
• Mercenaries that generate outside of the Law Quest have an effective ¹⁄₆ chance of generating with gauntlets.
• The ogre emperor always generates with gauntlets.
• Vlad the Impaler always generates with gauntlets.
• Sir Aljanor, the drow Healer quest leader, always generates with blessed gauntlets that are at least +3.
• Justice Archons outside of the drow Healer quest and Shield Archons are always generated with gauntlets.
• Duergar stoneguards always generate with gauntlets.
• Alliance vanguards always generate with gauntlets.
• The militant cleric of the enemy party that serves as the default Noble quest nemeses always generates with gauntlets.
