Dragonbane is an artifact that appears in EvilHack, and has been significantly altered from the artifact in NetHack. It is unaligned, and its base item is a pair of gloves made of dragonhide.

Generation

In addition to random generation, Dragonbane can be given as a sacrifice gift to any hero, though it will never be the first artifact given.

Description

While worn, Dragonbane confers reflection and acid resistance, and warns of dragons. Any draconic monster (as opposed to any monster in the dragon monster class) that sees the hero wearing Dragonbane will turn hostile if they were not already hostile; dragons that are hit by unarmed attacks from a hero or monster wearing Dragonbane, or else attack its wearer, take an additional 1d6 + 2 damage.

Dragonbane completely resists disintegration from the breath weapon or passive attacks of black dragons, and has the standard ¹⁹⁄₂₀ chance for artifacts of resisting disintegration from other sources.

Strategy

Remember that the fell beast or any of the growth stages of pseudodragon are not considered dragons despite being part of the monster class.
