Dragonbane is an artifact that appears in EvilHack, and has been significantly altered from the artifact in NetHack. It is unaligned, and its base item is a pair of gloves made of dragonhide.

Generation

In addition to random generation, Dragonbane can be given as a sacrifice gift to any character, though it will never be the first artifact given.

Description

While worn, Dragonbane confers reflection and acid resistance, and warns of dragons. Any dragon that sees the character wearing Dragonbane will turn hostile if they were not already hostile, and dragons that make contact with Dragonbane (either via unarmed attack or passively when attacking its wearer) takes an additional 1d6 + 2 damage - this does not include dragon-like monsters in the same monster class, i.e. the fell beast or any of the growth stages of pseudodragon. Dragonbane also completely resists disintegration from the breath weapon or passive attacks of black dragons, and has the standard ¹⁹⁄₂₀ chance for artifacts of resisting disintegration from other sources.
