A macuahuitl, plural macuahuimeh, is a type of weapon that appears in dNetHack, notnotdNetHack, and notnotdNetHack. It is a medium-sized melee weapon that is one-handed for a medium-sized wielder, uses the club skill, and has a base material of wood. It appears as an obsidian-edged club when unidentified.
Generation
Lawful human Kensei start each game with a blessed +1 macuahuitl.
Macuahuimeh are not randomly generated, although they may be wished for or found in bones.
The artifacts Fire Brand and Frost Brand can be wished for or gifted in macuahuitl form, and can be reshaped into a macuahuitl by dipping the chosen artifact into a forge or fountain respectively—this reshaping requires the hero to either have a macuahuitl in their inventory or be at least Skilled in clubs.
Second-sun warriors are always generated with macuahuimeh. The Kensei quest nemesis, the blue-eyed fox, has a 1⁄16 chance of being generated with a filth-crusted and dire poison-coated macuahuitl.
Description
A hero that wields a macuahuitl while at Skilled or better in long swords gains the "hew", "graze", and "stunning strike" expert traits.
Lawful Human Kensei can use macuahuitl to perform kensei moves, and gain access to the "cyclone slash" ability while wielding them.
