A priest of Ib, ., is a type of monster that appears in dNetHack, notdNetHack and notnotdNetHack. The priest of Ib is an aquatic, extra-terrestrial ghost-like being with a humanoid shape that has infravision and is unsolid, unbreathing and amphibious. Priests of Ib have 15 points of AC in the 'special' category, lack normal HP regeneration, and can reach level 30. As ritually impure monsters, priests of Ib can raise the hero's impurity by attacking them, and they take extra damage from church-picks and church shortswords while dealing less damage against targets wearing silverknight armor.

Priests of Ib have the ability to cast one clerical monster spell during each of their turns: they will select from plague, acid rain, geyser, open wounds, and nausea bolt, with a doubled chance of favoring nausea bolt compared to other spells—if the moon is gibbous, they also become capable of casting fire pillar. Due to believing themselves to be alive and solid, they can always hit insubstantial monsters such as shades (though this is rendered moot since they will only attack by casting). Priests of Ib possess cold resistance, sleep resistance, disintegration resistance, poison resistance, acid resistance, stoning resistance, drain resistance, death resistance, and immunity to sickness.

Priests of Ib can be warded by the Elder Sign.

Generation

Priests of Ib are not randomly generated, and they are not a valid polymorph form or genocide target.

Priests of Ib may appear as minions of Bokrug, the water-lizard.

Invoking the Ibite Arm at 60 or more insight will summon 3-9 priests of Ib at random locations across the current level, and these summoned monsters will last for a duration based on the hero's charisma, the Ibite Arm's enchantment, and the amount of sanity the hero has lost.

Priests of Ib do not leave a corpse upon death.
