A square club is a type of weapon that appears in dNetHack, notnotdNetHack, and notnotdNetHack. It is a huge melee weapon that is two-handed for a medium-sized wielder, and uses the club skill. It has a base material of mineral.
The Boreal Scepter is an artifact square club.
Generation
Square clubs are not randomly generated, although they may be wished for or found in bones.
The artifacts Fire Brand and Frost Brand can only be wished for or gifted in odachi form for a lawful human Kensei, and only lawful human Kensei can reshape the Brands into square clubs by dipping the chosen artifact into a forge or fountain respectively—this reshaping requires the hero to either have a square club in their inventory or be at least Skilled in clubs.
Player monster kensei are generated with a square club 1⁄4 of the time.
Description
A hero that wields a square club while at Skilled or better in clubs gains the "stunning strike", "knock back", and "knock back charge" expert traits.
While wielding a square club, lawful human Kensei will have their regular forward move (⇒⇒/⇘⇘) replaced with the shove.
