A dark elven short sword is a type of weapon that appears in SLASH'EM, SpliceHack and SlashTHEM. It is a one-handed melee weapon that uses the short sword skill. It is made of wood, and appears as a black runed short sword when unidentified.
Generation
Drow characters start the game with knowledge of the dark elven short sword. Drow Rogues start with a dark elven short sword in place of their role's standard short sword.[1]
Drow in SLASH'EM, SlashTHEM and SpliceHack always generate with a dark elven bow and 3-14 dark elven arrows.[2]
SLASH'EM
In SLASH'EM, dark elven short swords are not randomly generated. Upgrading a dwarvish short sword has a 1⁄2 chance of producing a dark elven short sword.[3]
SpliceHack
In SpliceHack, dark elven short swords are not randomly generated.
SlashTHEM
In SlashTHEM, dark elven short swords can be randomly generated like other weapons, and general stores, used armor dealerships and antique weapon outlets can sell dark elven short swords. Upgrading works the same as in SLASH'EM.
Description
The dark elven short sword is nearly identical to the elven short sword minus its appearance, with the same damage and to-hit bonus.
Upgrading a dark elven short sword will produce a dwarvish short sword.[4]
