An eilistran armor is a type of body armor that appears in dNetHack, notdNetHack and notnotdNetHack. It is a huge piece of armor that has a base material of silver, and appears as clockwork plate armor when unidentified.
Generation
Eilistran armors are not randomly generated normally, though they can be wished for or found in bones.
If tamed, Oona can smith platinum eilistran armor.
A blessed +1 eilistran armor alongside a blessed +1 silver faceless helm and four blessed +1 silver sabers are generated on the drow Healer quest home level, where they are contained in a statue of a Poro Aulon in the room directly south of the throne.
A blessed shatterproof +1 glass eilistran armor is generated in a southeastern room on the goal level of the drow healer quest, contained in a sack alongside a set of other blesed eilistrae items, including an amulet of lifesaving and cloak of magic resistance.
Several monsters can be generated with an eilistran armor:
- Seyll Auzkovyn, the drow shared quest nemesis, is always generated with a blessed +0 mithril eilistran armor.
- Poro Aulons are always generated with an eilistran armor, which has a 2⁄3 chance of being made of silver, and is otherwise made of platinum.
Description
Wearing an eilistran armor grants 5 base AC, 5 base DR to the upper torso, MC2, and conveys the flying extrinsic. Wearing or removing an eilistran armor takes 5 turns. As heavy armor, wearing an eilistran armor completely blocks dexterity bonus to AC.
When a melee attack is made while wearing a charged eilistran armor, the armor automatically makes two additional marilith-arm attacks. Each marilith-arm will choose one weapon from all weapons carried in open inventory based on what letter a weapon is assigned to. This selection prefers weapons that are assigned to lowercase letters (in essence, weapons on 'a–z' are chosen before those on 'A–Z'). Valid weapons for marilith-arm attacks follow two-weaponing rules, with weapons too heavy to be effectively two-weaponed being skipped, and are restricted to weapons and weapon-tools. Attacks also receive the two-weaponing skill bonuses to to-hit and damage.
An eilistran armor's mechanical arms may be turned off and on by applying the armor. All eilistran armor is initially generated on and with 600 charges, with each attack a marilith-arm makes deducting one charge. Applying the armor once less than 541 charges remain will prompt to recharge the armor with a clockwork component, which adds 60 charges each.
All monsters may make use of the eilistran armor's marilith-arm attacks, though only Poro Aulons, Aliders, and Oona recharge the armor by themselves. They do not require clockwork components to do so.
