Generation
Anachrononauts start the game with knowledge of the gold-bladed vibrosword's identified appearance.
Gold-bladed vibroswords are not randomly generated and cannot be wished for by a hero that isn't a Tourist, though they may still be found in bones.
Male Androids start each game with an uncursed +0 gold-bladed vibrosword.
Two monsters can be generated with a gold-bladed vibrosword.
- For Incantifier Kensei, Gray fungal towers generated in the Kensei quest have a 1⁄6 (16.6%) chance of being generated with a gold-bladed vibrosword.
- Androids are always generated with a gold-bladed vibrosword, which will never be negatively enchanted.
Description
Gold-bladed vibroswords inflict piercing and slashing damage and have a +1 to-hit bonus. When uncharged, they deal 1d10 damage against small monsters and 1d12 against large monsters. If the gold-bladed vibrosword is charged, it instead deals 2d10+5 against small monsters and 2d12+6 against large monsters. A gold-bladed vibrosword of larger or smaller size has its base damage dice similarly modified, always gaining an additional damage dice, and half a dice as bonus damage when charged. A normal sized hero that wields a gold-bladed vibrosword will gain 1.5x bonus strength damage of up to +12 per hit. When wielding a gold-bladed vibrosword at Skilled or better in long sword, a hero gains the "focus fire", "stop thrust", and "lunge" expert traits. Swinging a gold-bladed vibrosword costs only 5⁄6 of the normal movement points to attack, costing 10 movement points as opposed to the 12 most weapons do.
Gold-bladed vibroswords will always be generated with the unholy object property. This object property will only come into effect if the weapon is cursed, however. Additionally, if the gold-bladed vibrosword is wielded while the hero below a 1⁄3 of their maximum hp, it gains a +20% base damage bonus.
A gold-bladed vibrosword is normally generated with 80 to 99 charges unless otherwise specified, and can be recharged any number of times. Recharging a gold-bladed vibrosword has different effects based on the beautitude of the charging source: blessed charging sets charges to 100, cursed charging sets charges to 10 and uncursed charging sets the charges to a number between 80 and 99.
A gold-bladed vibrosword that has its base material changed to something other than gold is transformed into a white vibrosword. Conversely, if a white vibrosword is dipped into a potion of midas or is otherwise made into gold, it will be transformed into a gold-bladed vibrosword. The gold-bladed vibrosword can't have its base material changed without also having its item type changed, unlike the white vibrosword.
In terms of monster weapon preference, monsters will prefer the gold-bladed vibrosword to a white vibrosword, and will prefer a beamsword or better to the gold-bladed vibrosword.
