Illithid is a form of monster attribute or similar quality in some variants of NetHack that indicates when a monster is considered to be a mind flayer or of a similar nature.

Across the variants that it appears in, the illithid attribute generally determines which monsters can and cannot be affected by artifacts that target dragons in addition to any other variant-specific properties.
