Ruggo the Gnome High King:
| |
- This article is about the monster in dNetHack and its derivatives. For the monster in SLASH'EM and its derivatives, see Ruggo the Gnome King.
Ruggo the Gnome High King, G, is a unique monster that appears in dNetHack, notdNetHack and notnotdNetHack. Ruggo is a chaotic gnome that is very similar to a gnome king while being slightly stronger, and is also an overlord to gnomekind. Ruggo the Gnome High King has infravision and second-level low-light vision, can be seen via infravision, will occasionally pick up gold, gems, magical items, and other objects that he comes across, will let a hero get close to him unless he is attacked, and can follow a hero to other levels if he is adjacent. Ruggo cannot be tamed, and will turn traitor if somehow tamed.
Ruggo the Gnome High King has two weapon attacks, and is skilled in martial combat.
Generation
Ruggo the Gnome High King is always generated peaceful, and is not a valid polymorph form.
Ruggo the Gnome High King is only encountered on the Gnomish Ranger quest home level, where he is generated atop his throne in front of a secret door at level creation: the secret door hides a closet containing the damaged arcadian avenger, who acts as the quest leader.
Ruggo is generated with a medium gnomish pointy hat and one of the following weapon sets with an equal probability of each: a stack of 6–17 small darts, a small crossbow with 6–17 small crossbow bolts, a small aklys with a small sling and 6–17 small rocks, or a stack of 2–4 small daggers.
Origin
Ruggo the Gnome High King is based on Ruggo the Gnome King from SLASH 6 (an ancestor of SLASH'EM), where he acts as the leader of the Gnome quest: the Gnome Ranger quest home level is nearly identical to that of the old Gnome quest's home level.
