A white vibrozanbato is a type of charged slashing vibroweapon that appears in dNetHack, notdNetHack and notnotdNetHack. It is a huge-sized weapon that is two-handed for a medium-sized wielder, has a base material of silver and is considered to be a futuristic item. It appears as a curved white sword when unidentified.
Generation
Anachrononauts start the game with knowledge of the white vibrozanbato's identified appearance.
White vibrozanbatos are not randomly generated and cannot be wished for by a hero that isn't a Tourist, though they may still be found in bones.
For Androids, one white vibrozanbato with a non-negative enchantment is scattered to a randomly chosen dungeon level between dungeon level 2 and the castle. Unlike normal item generation, a scattered item may be placed in a corridor, vault, closet and other places confined that are usually restricted from having items generate there.
Two monsters can be generated with a white vibrozanbato.
- For Incantifier Kensei, Gray fungal towers generated in the Kensei quest have a 1⁄6 (16.6%) chance of being generated with a white vibrozanbato.
- The Alider is always generated with The Crescent Blade with its base item changed to a blessed +8 white vibrozanbato, which will be named "The Mk 2 Crescent Blade". It will have 55 to 100 remaining charges and will already have been recharged 3 to 5 times.
Description
White vibrozanbatos inflict piercing and slashing damage and have a +2 to-hit bonus. When uncharged, they deal 1d16 damage against small monsters and 1d8+2d4 against large monsters. If the white vibrozanbato is charged, it instead deals 2d16+8 against small monsters and 2d8+2d4+10 against large monsters. A white vibrozanbato of larger or smaller size has its base damage dice similarly modified, always gaining an additional damage dice and half a dice as bonus damage versus small. Versus large, they gain another bonus damage dice, two bonus damage dice, and the sum of half of both a damage dice and two bonus dice as bonus damage. A normal sized hero that wields a white vibrozanbato will gain 1.5x bonus strength damage of up to +12 per hit. When wielding a white vibrozanbato at Skilled or better in two-handed sword, a hero gains the "fell", "cleave", and "long slash" expert traits. Swinging a gold-bladed vibrozanbato costs only 5⁄6 of the normal movement points to attack, costing 10 movement points as opposed to the 12 most weapons do.
White vibrozanbato will always be generated with the holy object property. This object property will only come into effect if the weapon is blessed, however. Additionally, if the white vibrozanbato is wielded while the hero is at maximum hp it gains a +20% base damage bonus.
A white vibrozanbato is normally generated with 80 to 99 charges unless otherwise specified, and can be recharged any number of times. Recharging a white vibrozanbato has different effects based on the beautitude of the charging source: blessed charging sets charges to 100, cursed charging sets charges to 10 and uncursed charging sets the charges to a number between 80 and 99.
If a white vibrozanbato is dipped into a potion of midas or is otherwise made into gold, it will be transformed into a gold-bladed vibrozanbato. Conversely, a gold-bladed vibrozanbato that has its base material changed to something other than gold is transformed into a white vibrozanbato. Unlike the gold-bladed vibrozanbato, the white vibrozanbato can have its base material changed without also having its item type changed, such as through the Silver Flame's minor boons.
In terms of monster weapon preference, monsters will prefer the white vibrozanbato to a double force-blade, and will prefer a gold-bladed vibrozanbato or better to the white vibrozanbato.
