A nagamaki is a type of two-handed sword that appears in dNetHack, notnotdNetHack, and notnotdNetHack. It is a huge slashing weapon that has a base-material of metal. It appears as a long-handled samurai-sword when unidentified.

The Masamune, a Chaos Temple Quest artifact, and The Tsurugi of Muramasa, the Samurai quest artifact, are both artifact nagamaki. For Samurai, the artifacts Fire brand and Frost brand may be reshaped into a odachi by dipping them into a forges and fountains, respectively.

Generation

Nagamaki do not randomly generate, but may be wished for.

The Tsurugi of Muramasa will be generated under Ashikaga Takauji on the goal level of the Samurai quest.

Neutral Yuki-onna Kensei start each game with a blessed +1 nagamaki.

Three vorpal mercurial nagamaki are generated, each with a 34 chance, on the locate level of the Kensei quest for githyanki Kensei.

Half-dragon Madwomen have a 19 chance of finding a mercurial broadsword in their quest box.

The blessed +0 Masamune is placed inside a chest hidden behind a secret corridor in the lower right corner of Tiamat's level in the Chaos Temple Quest.

The ogre emperor in the Mordor Ruins Quest is generated with a large nagamaki.

Kensei player monsters are generated with a nagamaki 18 of the time.


Description

At Skilled and Expert skill, nagamaki gain the graze, hew, cleave, and long slash expert traits.

Lawful Yuki-onna Kensei can use odachi to perform kensei moves.

Samurai wielding an odachi can perform shattering blows.
