Lord Sato

Lord Sato, @, is the Samurai quest leader. He is a strong, omnivorous human that can be seen via infravision.

Lord Sato has two weapon attacks.

Generation

Lord Sato resides within the Castle of the Taro Clan on the Samurai quest home level, where occupies the throne room square with a chest. Lord Sato is always generated with +5 splint mail and a +4 katana.

History

Lord Sato is introduced with most other quest leaders in NetHack 3.1.0. NetHack 5.0.0 updates all quest leaders to be fiercer opponents, granting Lord Sato his more robust starting equipment.

Variants

Some variants make Lord Sato and other quest leaders stronger to accommodate changes to the Quest and its entry mechanics, and these changes may be incorporated into upcoming versions of NetHack or else be borrowed from them.

SporkHack

In SporkHack, Lord Sato's difficulty is increased to 24. His speed is increased to 15, his MR score becomes 90, and he has two 4d10 weapon attacks. He also gains flight, sleep resistance, poison resistance, and stoning resistance.

dNetHack

In dNetHack, Lord Sato's difficulty is lowered to 22. He has an effective AC of 10, with no points in any type of AC.

Lord Sato always generates with a blessed +4 katana, a blessed +4 wakizashi, blessed +4 splint mail, a blessed +0 war hat, and blessed +0 high boots. He has stealth similar to player Samurai.

xNetHack

In xNetHack, Lord Sato's stats and difficulty are improved as in SporkHack, minus the flight and resistances.

SpliceHack

In SpliceHack, Lord Sato's stats are improved as in xNetHack, excluding difficulty.

EvilHack

In EvilHack, Lord Sato's stats and resistances are improved as in SporkHack, minus the flight.

Lord Sato always generates with +4 splint mail and a +4 katana. If The Tsurugi of Muramasa is successfully wished for by a non-Samurai, there is a xx+1 chance (where x is the amount of previous artifact wishes) of a hostile Lord Sato generating adjacent to the character with the artifact in his possession.
