The Paladin, Template:Monsym/paladin, is the Infidel quest nemesis in EvilHack and Hack'EM. She is a strong lawful human minion that guards the Bell of Opening and The Idol of Moloch, the Infidel quest artifact.
The Paladin has poison resistance and possesses two weapon attacks (with the second capable of stunning you), the ability to cast clerical monster spells, and a 'claw' attack that can steal the Amulet of Yendor or the quest artifact. The theft attack prioritizes the Idol over the Amulet should you obtain it without killing her.
Generation
The Paladin is generated atop the Idol of Moloch in the middle of a woodland-surrounded clearing within the goal level of the Infidel quest.
She is generated with a blessed, +3 to +5 morning star, a shield of reflection, a crystal plate mail, high boots, leather gloves, a leather cloak, and a potion of speed. As a lawful minion, all her equipment is erodeproof and non-cursed.
Strategy
The Paladin is intended to be a difficult opponent, and is also surrounded by six templars and two lawful aligned priests; the level also has a few squeaky board traps laying around. This requires you to not only have a plan for facing the Paladin herself, but typically also a plan to deal with her fellow minions without waking her up prematurely, even with stealth.
Encyclopedia entry
The paladin is a noble and heroic warrior, the symbol of all
that is right and true in the world. As such, he has high ideals
that he must maintain at all times. Throughout legend and history
there are many heroes who could be called paladins: Roland and
the 12 Peers of Charlemagne, Sir Lancelot, Sir Gawain, and Sir Galahad
are all examples of the class. However, many brave and
heroic soldiers have tried and failed to live up to the ideals of
the paladin. It is not an easy task!
