A dark elven crossbow bolt is a type of weapon that appears in EvilHack. Dark elven crossbow bolts are projectiles designed for use with the dark elven hand crossbow, and use the crossbow skill. The dark elven crossbow bolt is made of adamantine, and appears as an etched crossbow bolt when unidentified.
Generation
Drow and centaur characters start the game with knowledge of the dark elven crossbow bolt. Drow Rogues start with a dark elven hand crossbow and dark elven crossbow bolts in place of the role's standard daggers - any other drow character in a role that starts the game with crossbow bolts will receive the same amount of dark elven crossbow bolts, though there are no roles where this substitution occurs.
Drow soldiers and watchmen have a 1⁄3 chance of generating with a dark elven hand crossbow and a stack of 3-15 dark elven crossbow bolts, which is paired with a dark elven dagger - drow sergeants generated at the Castle on level creation are always given a dark elven hand crossbow and stack of 3-33 dark elven crossbow bolts.
Driders have a 1⁄3 chance of generating with a stack of 3-15 dark elven crossbow bolts and hand crossbow, and other non-undead drow have a 1⁄4 chance of generating with a stack of 3-15 dark elven crossbow bolts and hand crossbow, with the exception of drow mages and drow clerics.
Description
Dark elven crossbow bolts can be used at a forge to create a couple of items:
- 2 dark elven crossbow bolts can be combined with 2 dark elven arrows while the forge is darkened to create a dark elven dagger.
- 2 dark elven crossbow bolts can be combined with a dark elven dagger while the forge is darkened to create a dark elven short sword.
