The twitching four-armed changed, H, is a unique monster that appears in dNetHack, notdNetHack and notnotdNetHack. The twitching four-armed changed is a giant humanoid monster that came about as a result of various humanoids being corrupted and changed by exposure to the Far Realms of Insanity: this monster only exists in the future inhabited by the Anachrononaut (and Android), and they are simultaneously human, elven, drow, dwarven, gnomish, orcish, giant, and demihuman.

The twitching four-armed changed is amphibious, mindless and unbreathing, making them capable of swimming, and also has infravision, lifesense, second-level low-light vision, and the ability to see invisible monsters. It can tear through webs and break down locked doors, and unlike the smaller humanoid changed it lacks a distinct head. The The twitching four-armed changed has 20 points of AC in the 'natural' category. Seeing the twitching four-armed changed can lower the hero's sanity and raise their insight (and Anachrononauts start the game with the veil lifted). The twitching four-armed changed can follow a hero to other levels if it is close enough, and a tamed twitching four-armed changed may turn traitor.

The twitching four-armed changed has two long-reaching vorpal attacks, a weapon attack and offhand weapon attack that deal physical damage, a magic blade attack that deals shadow damage, and another that deals damage using star blades. It has expert prowess in martial combat and a full base attack bonus of +1 to-hit per monster level. The twitching four-armed changed possesses poison resistance, acid resistance and sleep resistance, resists blunt damage, possesses a vulnerability to iron due to being elven, and gains magic resistance due to being orcish upon reaching level 15.

The twitching four-armed changed requires an isolation suit to exist in the world’s atmosphere: once it is dropped to below roughly 50% of their HP, its normal HP regeneration stops and it begins losing 1 HP each turn while releasing small groups of poison clouds as it moves—this represents a breach in the isolation suit causing it to boil away into poisonous mist. The twitching four-armed changed is poisonous to consume due to its nature, and will burst into several poison clouds upon death, whether from being killed directly or the eventual HP loss described above. It can be warded by the fully-reinforced Elder Sign.

Generation

The twitching four-armed changed is always created as hostile. It is not a valid polymorph form or genocide target, and statues and figurines of it cannot be wished for.

The twitching four-armed changed is only generated on the Android quest, where it is placed within one of the northern rooms of the overrun Last Bastion during level creation.

The twitching four-armed changed is always generated with two blessed bone lightsabers that have the following qualities:

  • The first lightsaber has an enchantment of +4, with a focus gem that has a roughly equal probability of being morganite, ruby, garnet, or jasper. When examined, the hilt has a roughly equal probability of selecting one of the following descriptions to use during that game—it may be "wrapped with silver spiderwebs", have "a black grip and silver details", have "a set of vertical black ridges" as a grip, or have "a thin red ribbon" hanging from its pommel.
  • The second lightsaber has an enchantment of +3, with a focus gem that has a roughly equal probability of being emerald, green fluorite or jade. When examined, the hilt has a roughly equal probability of selecting one of the following descriptions to use during that game—it may have "a raised emitter with a lotus-bud shroud", a grip "composed of a hard and woody substance", "a grip of tarnished silver ivy", or "a forest camouflage covering".

The twitching four-armed changed leaves behind several items upon death alongside the chance of a corpse: two myrkalfr eyeballs, two elven eyeballs, 10–19 randomized eyeballs, and 10–19 worm teeth that each have the excoriating object property.
