Eden
Eden, the First Garden is a spirit that appears in dNetHack, notdNetHack and notnotdNetHack.
Ritual, seal and taboo
Eden's seal must be drawn on a square with a fountain.
To remain bound to Eden, the hero must not destroy trees or fountains.
Mark
A hero that has Eden bound has a dome of cerulean crystal embedded in the crown of their head, with a garden visible inside.
The dome can be seen from a distance if the hero is tiny or smaller, and can be seen up close unless they are large or bigger. Any helm that covers this area (including hats) can be used to cover the dome.
Benefits
While Eden is bound, the hero gains skill in long swords and has the reflection property: this does not reflect rays from a dragon's breath weapon, with the exception of disintegration breath from a black dragon.
Eden's active powers are as follows:
- Purifying Blast: A powerful multi-hit blast that prompts for a direction and must charge for five turns after that direction is specified, —upon firing, the blast deals 10 spirit dice of damage with a 25-square knockback, followed by a fireball with the same amount of dice being fired along the same line.
- Recall to Eden: The hero attempts to remove 1 adjacent monster from the game, with their probability of success based on the hero and target's relative HP totals. The hero will recover some HP if the attack succeeds, but will not gain experience and and much of the monster's inventory will disappear with it.
- Stargate: The hero branchports, which must charge for 5 turns and renders the hero immobile—branchporting also drains their energy. Their AC is improved by 7 points, as with the Purifying Blast power.
Eden's passive power is as follows:
- Silver Hull: The hero's body is made of silver.
- The hero's bare handed attacks, martial arts attacks, kick attacks, and headbutts all deal silver damage against silver-hating monsters if they are not wearing armor for those respective slots (i.e. gloves, boots and/or a helm).
- Silver-hating monsters that attack the hero and make contact with their bare skin or body also take silver damage.
- A hero that is of a silver-hating race or in a silver-hating form (e.g. a vampire) loses their silver vulnerability, and a hero in a form made of iron becomes resistant to water damage.
- A hero that is an unholy-hater will not take unholy damage from black-star rapiers—this may be a bug.

Eden:

In notdNetHack and notnotdNetHack, Eden, D, also appears as a monster that can be summoned by an Illithanachronounbinder. Eden is a strong, carnivorous and thick-skinned dragon that is similar to a silver dragon in appearance, including its body shape and wings: it is capable of flight and will pick up gold, gems, magical items, and other objects that it comes across. It can track the hero and sense other monsters via catsight and scent, and can see invisible. Like many summoned spirits, Eden cannot be tamed.
Eden has a fiery breath weapon, a bite attack, two claw attacks, and an additional 4d10 tailslap attack that it will use once every global turn. Eden possesses fire resistance and reflection.
Eden can be warded by a fourfold-or-better Elder Elemental Eye.
Generation
Eden is first generated when summoned from its seal by an Illithanachronounbinder. It is always created hostile, and is not a valid polymorph form or genocide target.
Eden does not leave a corpse upon death, instead dropping the artifact Eden's Scales: Eden's scales are a set of silver dragon scales that can be made into both types of dragon armor, can be safely enchanted to +7, and can be invoked to branchport.
Strategy
Below this point, there are major spoilers for the Illithanachronounbinder role. They can be accessed by selecting the "Role spoiler" tab.
If Eden is killed after being summoned, it can be encountered again in the Void, a branch accessed by opening the high altar of Ilsensine the Fallen as an Illithanachronounbinder using the invoke effect of The Elder Cerebral Fluid. Eden is generated along with many other spirits of the near void on the first floor of the branch, and is generated with the "whispers" template, which makes it nonliving.
Encyclopedia entry
So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.
