Ritual, seal and taboo
Ose's seal must be drawn underwater, and can only be addressed by a submerged hero - the water is drained away as part of the ritual. Her seal may be drawn and used on dry land in the Lost Cities.
To keep Ose bound, the hero must not fall into water.
Mark
A hero that has Ose bound has a gaze carries tangible weight, and its force can be felt from a distance. The hero can hide this effect by blinding themselves or wearing a metallic helm that is not a helm of telepathy. For all heroes except Wizards and incantifiers, a cornuthaum will work as well.
Benefits
While bound, Ose confers immunity to death effects and grants skill in tridents.
Ose's active powers are as follows:
- Querient Thoughts: You release a blast of psychic static that damages all telepathic monsters on the level, and can also damage non-telepathic monsters with a 1⁄5 chance of occurring for each monster.
- Great Leap: You level teleport at the cost of 625 nutrition.
Ose's passive powers are as follows:
- Plain Leap: You can jump.
- Maddening Thoughts: You gain a bonus to certain weapons based on your insight, as if you were a Madman.
- Opened Mind: You cast spells using your Charisma score.

In notdNetHack and notnotdNetHack, Ose, @, also appears as a monster that can be summoned by an Illithanachronounbinder. Ose is a neutral human that is amphibious, unbreathing, strong, and is an overlord to her kind; she can see invisible, is capable of flight, will pick up and collect items, and can follow the hero to other levels if she is adjacent. Like many spirits, she cannot be tamed.
Ose has a weapon attack, a sleep-inducing breath weapon and a claw attack that can splash targets with Lethe water, and possesses fire resistance, poison resistance and stoning resistance.
Generation
Ose is first generated when summoned from her seal by an Illithanachronounbinder. She is always created hostile, and is not a valid form for normal polymorph.
Ose is generated with a +9 misty mithril trident, high-elven gauntlets, high-elven plate, a high-elven helm, and a shield of reflection.
Ose does not leave a corpse upon death.
Strategy

If Ose is killed after being summoned, she can be encountered again in the Void, a branch accessed by opening the high altar of Ilsensine the Fallen as an Illithanachronounbinder using the invoke effect of The Elder Cerebral Fluid. Ose is placed randomly along with many other spirits of the near void on the second floor of the branch, and is generated with the "whispers" template, which makes her nonliving.
