Description
The pest glaive does not gain any expert traits natively, but may absorb those from other weapons.
Silverfish who wield a pest glaive receive a 20% carry-cap bonus.
Pest glaives can be fed spellbooks, corpses, and weapons, with a flat 1⁄20 chance of inheriting a relevant caracteristic from them. A pest glaive can only eat weapons made of organic materials, iron, green-steel or another erodable material. Weapons made of non-organic material must either be eroded to be consumed by the pest glaive, or require standing on top of a fountain, pool or square of shallow water. Weapons made of other materials may still be eaten, so long as they have at least one point of erosion. Erode-proof weapons cannot be eaten.
- Spellbooks: fireball and fire storm, cone of cold and blizzard, lightning bolt and lightning storm, acid splash. They convey the flaming, freezing, shocking and sizzling object properties, respectively.
- Corpses: fire resistance, cold resistance, shock resistance, acid resistance. Will convey these resistances while wielded if absorbed.
- Weapon expert traits: Hew, Fell, Knock Back, Focus Fire, Stunning Strike, Knock Back Charge, Graze, Stop Thrust, Penetrate Armor, Long Slash, Bleed, Cleave, Lunge, Second, Create Opening, Braced, Bladesong, Bladedance, Puncture, Striking.
- Enchantment: Gains +1 enchantment when eating weapons that have an enchantment higher than its own, subject to the same chances as above
Some weapon types will also pass on special abilites to the glaive, granted by specific weapons with a 1⁄20 chance:
- Hand-protection: broadswords, shanta-patas. Gains an enchantment-based AC bonus and hand-slot DR bonus.
- Whip tricks: bullwhips, viperwhips, whip-saws, force-whips. Can be applied as a regular whip would
- Digging: dwarvish mattocks, pick-axes. Can be applied as a regular digging tool would up to 1 square away.
- Jousting: All lance-skill weapons.
- Axe chop: All axe-skill weapons and weapon-tools.
- Crook: Shepherd's crooks. Can be applied as a regular shepherd's crook would.
- Spear-throwing: Atlatls
A pest glaive that had been poisoned and loses its coating through use will receive a secreting object property for that poison with a 1⁄20 chance:
- Poison, Filth poison, Sleep poison, Blindness poison, Acid poison, Silver poison, Hallucination poison, Dire poison. All secreting object properties have a 1⁄40 chance of coating the glaive in their respective poison every turn.

Encyclopedia entry
Wielded by the pests who emerge from scarlet mires. Noticeably
increases non-physical damage resistance.
Though men might recognize the keen intellect of the pests
evidenced by this spear's uncanny design, it will never
be understood by them.
