A yuki-onna, n, is a type of monster that appears in dNetHack, notdNetHack and notnotdNetHack. The yuki-onna is a cold-elemental nymph that also corresponds to the yuki-onna race of hero in notdNetHack and notnotdNetHack.

A yuki-onna is omnivorous, has infravision, can be seen via infravision, and will seek out items to collect like most nymphs, though unlike most nymphs she will not teleport randomly while moving. In notdNetHack and notnotdNetHack, yuki-onna heroes can polymorph into the form of a snow cloud, v, at will: this vortex form is strong and grants yuki-onna heroes flight and unbreathing, but causes them to shed worn armor and drop weapons.

A yuki-onna has a weapon attack, a cold touch attack, an item-stealing seduction attack, and a passive cold attack, and possesses cold resistance. In snow cloud form, they have a frosty touch attack, a frosty engulfing attack, and a passive frost attack; they additionally possess sleep resistance, poison resistance, and immunity to sickness.

Eating a yuki-onna corpse or tin, or quaffing their blood, grants temporary cold resistance for a duration of 3,000 turns before physical size modifiers.

Generation

Randomly-generated yuki-onna are always created hostile, and will not be generated in Gehennom.

Yuki-onna zombies can be randomly generated in the Anachrononaut quest.

Lillends generated on the Plane of Air and the Astral Plane may generate with yuki-onna masks.
