The Warrior is a role that appears in SlashTHEM. They are a pure fighting-class derived from the Knight that starts with similar proficiency in riding, though they lack the Knight's jumping ability and less emphasis on offensive spellcasting and mounted combat - the polearms, lance and spellcasting skills outside of divination spells are restricted for Warriors.

Warriors must be lawful or neutral, and can be played as clockwork automata, dwarves, elves, giants, gnomes, hobbits, humans, or kobolds.

The Warrior's starting pet is a saddled pony. Just like the Knight, a Warrior's riding skill starts out Basic, allowing the player to pick up items while riding.

The Warrior's pantheon is derived from Slavic folklore.

Quest

The Warrior quest sees you fighting the Archnemesis for Sword of Svyatogor. It is filled with locusts and Nymph (monster class); randomly generated monsters are biased toward red dragons and barbarians. The maps are similar to the Knight quest.

Warrior rank titles

The status line shows you to be one of the following ranks when you reach the specified experience level:

  • XL 1-2: Swords(wo)man
  • XL 3-5: Longswords(wo)man
  • XL 6-9: Two-Handed Swords(wo)man
  • XL 10-13: Legionnaire
  • XL 14-17: Crusader
  • XL 18-21: Baron(ess)
  • XL 22-25: Count(ess)
  • XL 26-29: Duke/Duchess
  • XL 30: Patriarch/Matriarch

Strategy

The Warrior is a combat-oriented role whose high physical stats allow them to utilize a wide array of melee and ranged weapons. However, they lack any combat spellcasting skills, can only raise skill in divination spells, and beyond intrinsic speed they do not gain any intrinsics or techniques outside of those inherent to their race.

The Warrior's quest artifact is extremely hard to obtain, as Archnemesis is a difficult opponent that fights similarly to a stronger Master Kaen.

Being a drow can aid in the Warrior's melee fighting abilities, and a vampire Warrior can deal extra damage by feeding on enemies.

Origin

The Warrior is based on the Gauntlet role with the same name. If the Warrior is weak from hunger, the game will display "Warrior needs food, badly!", which is a reference to Gauntlet's low health warning.
