Lunatic

The Lunatic is a role specific to SlashTHEM.

Lunatics have intrinsic lycanthropy like the lycanthrope starting race, and also learn the same techniques. Lunatics start with an extra square of vision similar to Cavepeople. In addition, Lunatics get permanent food appraisal like Chefs. Their starting pet is a wolf.

They can be a doppelgänger, drow, giant, human, incantifier, ogre, orc, or troll and are always chaotic. The Quest sees you fighting Sir Lorimar for the The Staff of Withering. It is a copy of Lycanthrope quest.

Strategy

Lunatics have a tricky early and middle game, in large part due to their lycanthropy. An untimely polymorph can result in the player being unable to effectively react to certain situations well, as it severely limits the types of actions that the player can perform. Moreover, it can leave the player undressed due to their armor not fitting the form. If need be, a Lunatic can attempt to end the polymorph early by throwing items up at themself until they revert back to their original form by taking enough damage. This is only recommended if the player is in a relatively safe location, or are prepared to deal with whatever situation they are in after de-polymorphing. Gaining polymorph control or a means to suppress lycanthropy is an early goal of the Lunatic.

Lunatics have access to the powerful artifact weapon Doomblade as a guaranteed sacrifice gift. It deals a solid amount of damage on average by SlashTHEM standards and should help Lunatics bridge their way through the midgame.

The pantheon is taken from the defunct Lycanthrope role in SLASH, before that became a race.

The Lunatic was overhauled to pay homage to the Lycanthrope role from SLASH 6.
