Armored boots are a type of boots that appear in dNetHack, notdNetHack and notnotdNetHack. They have a base material of iron, and appear simply as "boots" when unidentified.

Generation

Half-dragon Anachrononauts start the game with uncursed +0 copper armored boots. Samurai start the game with non-cursed +0 armored boots.

Armored boots are not randomly generated, though they can be wished for or found in bones. Armored boots can be forged by human smiths, shadowsmiths and Dracae Eladrin.

Locations

A tenuous pair of +3 shadowsteel armored boots is placed in the sack at the center of the Drow Healer quest goal level during level creation, while another pair of armored boots is placed randomly in the immediate outskirts surrounding that area.

Three sets of armored boots are placed randomly on the Knight quest home level during level creation.

A pair of armored boots is generated on the Samurai quest home level, where it is placed among the full complement of samurai equipment within the chest inside the eastern storeroom of the Taro Clan's castle during level creation.

An uncursed +1 pair of iron armored boots is generated within the chest on the Elvish Racial quest goal level during level creation.

In the Mordor variant of the Chaos Quest, one of the chests in the room directly west of the ogre emperor's throne contains specific types of armored boots:

  • a black colored +4 pair of iron armored boots with the "unholy weapon" and "unholy armor" object properties
  • a blessed and fixed pair of iron armored boots
  • a tiny-sized +3 pair of silver armored boots with the "holy weapon" and "holy armor" object properties
  • a pair of mithril armored boots

Armored boots can be generated in the magic item vaults that appear within the Avatar of Lolth's lair during level creation if it appears as the second Abyss level.
