In NetHack, the left parenthesis (() serves the following purposes:

• ( represents a tool.
• Pressing ( lists all tools that are currently in use: wielded weapon-tools, active light sources, and worn facewear (i.e. blindfolds, towels or lenses).
• In a menu that lists items, pressing ( will select all tools on that menu if the interface allows it.
