In NetHack, the letter R serves the following purposes:
- R represents a rust monster or disenchanter:
- Press r to read an object in your inventory.
- Press shift + R to remove an item. In NetHack 3.4.3 and previous versions, this can only be used to take off an accessory, e.g. a ring or an amulet.
- Press ctrl + r to redraw the screen.
