In NetHack, the letter T serves the following purposes:
- t represents a t lurker above or t trapper, which are the sole members of the trapper or lurker above monster class.
- T represents a troll:
- T troll
- T ice troll
- T rock troll
- T water troll
- T Olog-hai
- Press t to throw something.
- Press shift + t to take off armor.
- Press ctrl + t to teleport if you have the means to do so.
- On the status line, T stands for time, or turns.

Historical uses
In Hack 1.21 and Hack for PDP-11, based on Jay Fenlason's Hack, teleporters used the t glyph, while trolls used the T glyph. In Hack 1.0, the t glyph is given to the tengu, while the troll retains its glyph.
In NetHack 3.0.0, the tengu is moved to the imp or minor demon monster class, which uses the i glyph, while the trapper (formerly , is moved to the t glyph in its place alongside the lurker above. The troll still retains its glyph, and various other trolls are introduced.
