In NetHack, the number seven (or 7) is not used to represent anything by default. However, it can still solve the following purposes:

  • 7 and the other number keys can be used to specify a numeric prefix for a command or in a menu.
  • If numpad movement is on, press 7 to move north-west.

Variants

dNetHack

In dNetHack, lawful angels and minions use the 7 glyph.

dNetHack moves the existing lawful angelic beings and minions to this glyph and adds several more monsters that use the glyph:

SpliceHack

In older versions of SpliceHack, the sin monster class was represented by the 7 glyph. Both the monster class and its members have been removed from the game in later versions, though their shared encyclopedia entry still remains in the game data.

SpliceHack had seven defunct sin monsters, with one for each of the Seven Deadly Sins:

  • 7 Wrath
  • 7 Sloth
  • 7 Pride
  • 7 Greed
  • 7 Lust
  • 7 Gluttony
  • 7 Envy
