Historical uses

In Hack 1.21, a variant of Jay Fenlason's Hack, the ghost uses the ' glyph; in Hack for PDP-11, the glyph is instead used by the lurker above. The lurker above was then moved to the tilde glyph, ~, for Hack 1.0, then moved back to ' in Hack 1.0.1 - it would retain this glyph until NetHack 3.0.0, when the golems were introduced and the lurker above was moved to t with the trapper.
